Hi, Simon & EarthQuaker readers,
I wanted to bring to your attention Greening Reform Judaism, the Reform Jewish Movement’s newly launched Web portal at http://www.urj.org/green, which encourages congregants, synagogues and anyone else who might happen upon the site to go green! The Web portal includes educational curricula, tools for an energy audit, best practices from “green synagogues,” environmental holiday guides, and resources on Israel and the environment. The site also connects visitors to the environmental advocacy work of the Religious Action Center, the Reform Jewish Movement’s policy arm, and to resources from other environmental organizations that are working to pass comprehensive energy and climate legislation in Congress.
We feel strongly that environmentalism is an issue that speaks to people of every religion and of no religion alike, so I wanted to send it along just the same. The resources provided on our site are applicable to individuals and congregations of all denominations, and we hope our greening initiative will serve as an example and an inspiration to other denominations to embrace green living, as well.
